Programs and Events
Daily activities are coordinated by Kannon Creek’s activity professionals to expand the daily lives of our residents. Many residents build long lasting friendships with each other.
Every day brings a new schedule, including:
• A variety of fun projects & field trips
Our residents love a day in the park and when weather permits we spend the day, sharing a picnic, cooking out, playing games, enjoying many of the activities including the petting zoo, paddle boats and carousel.
• Activities designed to provide physical and mental stimulation and to promote interaction
• Parties and socials, including:
Our Fall Festival is a time for cook outs and cotton candy, popcorn and corn hole, ring toss and other games. Family and friends are always welcome.
•Our facility enters a float in the Christmas and 4th of July parades
Residents and staff enjoy planning and decorating the floats each year. It is quite an honor to be chosen to ride in the parade and to toss out candy to the people waving us on.
•National Assisted Living Week Celebrations
This is a week of celebrations. Each day a different department plans the day’s activities including food and entertainment. On the last day we throw a big party. Some where during the week there will be a cookout!
•Older American Celebration chaired by the Rowan County Ombudsman
For this celebration many local nursing and assisted living centers come together to honor older Americans. Center pieces for the tables are made by each facility and they are judged for first, second and third prizes. The facilities provide food and goodie bags for the honorees. There is entertainment including singing and dancing.
This day is just what it sounds like–a day with family. Although families are welcome to attend many of our celebrations, this one is a special time for our residents and families, where they are able to visit, relax, eat and have lots of fun.
• Interaction with children and teens
Many of the volunteers and visitors in our facility are associated with the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of the USA, youth choirs, school groups, the local ROTC and, of course, a delightful part of our big family are our employee’s kids.
